Socket AM4 platform
The MSI MEG B550 UNIFY motherboard uses the AMD B550 chipset and a Socket AM4 interface. It supports AMD Ryzen 5000, 4000 G-Series and 3000 series desktop processors, excluding the Ryzen 5 3400G and Ryzen 3 3200G models. The board targets builders who want a full-size ATX foundation for high-end CPUs without moving to a newer socket generation.
128GB DDR4 headroom
Four memory slots accept dual-channel DDR4 kits rated from 1866 to 5300MHz, with a maximum capacity of 128GB. The primary PCIe 4.0 x16 slot connects directly to the processor for current graphics cards, while the chipset supplies a second x16 slot running at x4 speed plus two x1 slots. Six SATA III ports and four M.2 interfaces provide plenty of storage lanes, though the chipset link limits total throughput when every slot is saturated.
ATX layout and rear I/O
The ATX form factor requires a compatible case and a standard 24-pin plus 8-pin CPU power connection. Rear I/O includes four USB 3.2 Gen 2 10Gbps ports, three Type-A and one Type-C, driven by the processor. An internal USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C header and additional 5Gbps headers come from the chipset. A Realtek RTL8125B controller delivers 2.5Gbps wired networking, while the Realtek ALC1220P codec handles 7.1-channel audio with S/PDIF output.
