This 8 GB registered DDR4 module runs at 3200 MT/s with CL22 latency and 1.2 V operation. It uses a 1Rx8 organisation and 288-pin form factor for HPE server and workstation platforms. ECC and registered buffering support data integrity in multi-socket configurations.

Registered ECC limits

Registered DIMMs add a clock cycle of buffering that reduces electrical load on the memory controller but prevents use in consumer desktop boards that expect unbuffered modules. ECC function requires a platform that exposes the extra parity bits; otherwise the module operates as non-ECC. DDR4 3200 speed is only realised when the system memory controller and BIOS support the PC4-25600 data rate.

Build and daily handling

The module has no heat spreader, so airflow across the PCB is the only cooling path in dense chassis. Samsung, Micron or Hynix DRAM chips are used depending on supply, all qualified to the same JEDEC standard.
