The Orico M208C3 turns a single M.2 NVMe SSD into a portable USB4.0 drive with a 40Gbps Type-C link. Theoretical throughput reaches 3000 MB/s and lab tests show reads up to 3151.14 MB/s and writes up to 2551.15 MB/s. It is built for users who need fast external storage from an existing NVMe stick.
Check your drive and host before buying
The enclosure accepts only M.2 PCIe NVMe drives in 2280 size with M-Key or B+M-Key notches. It will not work with M.2 SATA SSDs, M.2 PCIe AHCI SSDs or any other M.2 PCIe device. Your host must provide a USB4.0, Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 Type-C port to reach the rated speed; USB 3.2 or 3.1 ports will fall back to lower rates.
Thermals, noise and power in daily use
An all-aluminium shell with CNC-cut fins and a wrap-around aluminium cooling vest conducts heat away from the SSD without any fan, so operation is silent. The included thermal pad improves contact between drive and vest. Power comes entirely from the host USB-C port — no external AC adapter is required — and a smart sleep function spins the drive down after ten minutes of inactivity.
