Registered ECC difference

Registered ECC modules add a buffer that reduces electrical load on the memory controller, allowing higher capacities per channel. The octal-rank 8Rx4 organisation lets each DIMM reach 256GB while maintaining error correction. Mixing these with unbuffered or load-reduced DIMMs is not supported.

Installation notes

Each module uses a standard 288-pin DDR4 connector and operates at 1.2V. Populate slots according to the motherboard manual to match the validated Supermicro configurations. Incorrect slot order or mixing ranks will prevent the system from posting.
