The Panasonic Toughbook 55 is a 14.0 inch semi-rugged laptop built for professionals who need a durable device with user-serviceable components. Its magnesium alloy chassis meets MIL-STD and IP53 certification and includes a built-in handle for transport. The system ships with Windows 10 Pro, an Intel Core i5-8365U processor running at 1.6 GHz up to 4.1 GHz, 8 GB of memory and a 512 GB SSD. It suits field workers, technicians and mobile offices that require a tough, configurable platform.

Sustained operation with hot-swap power

Under continuous load the processor maintains speeds up to 4.1 GHz within the passively cooled, sealed chassis designed to IP53 dust and water resistance. The platform supports up to 38 hours of battery life when the optional second battery is installed and allows hot-swapping without shutting down. This enables uninterrupted workflows during long shifts or vehicle-mounted use where mains power is unavailable. The infrared webcam with tetra-array microphones and privacy cover remains functional throughout extended deployments.

Expansion limits of the xPAK interface

The laptop provides six user-removable expansion areas: three xPAK bays, plus accessible RAM, SSD and keyboard modules. The xPAK interface accepts Panasonic-approved modules such as barcode readers, additional I/O, optical drives and authentication readers only. Third-party cards or generic M.2 devices are not supported by this proprietary standard. Backwards compatibility with previous-generation vehicle and desktop docks preserves existing mounting hardware but does not extend the xPAK capability to older chassis.
