The Panasonic Toughbook CF-20 is a fully rugged detachable laptop that converts into a 10.1-inch tablet with one hand. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core m5-6Y57 processor at 1.1GHz with 8GB of memory and a 128GB SSD. The magnesium alloy chassis carries MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F and IP65 certification for drop, shock, vibration, dust and water resistance.

Limits of the integrated wireless interfaces

The built-in 4G LTE multi-carrier modem supports Band 14 for FirstNet Ready connectivity in the field. Wireless LAN uses 802.11a/b/g/n rather than newer Wi-Fi standards, and Bluetooth is version 4.1. The wired LAN port tops out at 1000Mbps. Graphics are handled by Intel HD Graphics 515, which suits office and diagnostic apps but not modern 3D workloads.

Simple detach mechanism with a few caveats

The keyboard base separates from the tablet section by releasing a single latch; the built-in handle doubles as a kickstand for desk use. A digitizer pen is included for precise input on the capacitive gloved multi-touch display. Buyers who need more than 128GB of internal storage or more than 16GB of total memory should look elsewhere, as the SSD and RAM are not user-upgradable beyond the stated maximum.
