Seven-Port USB 3.0 Expansion

The RIITOP PCET7U3-NEC adds seven USB 3.0 ports to a desktop through a single PCI Express x1 slot. It is built around the NEC Renesas D720201 and D720210 chipsets for broad driver support across Windows, Linux and macOS. The card draws all required power from the slot itself, so no extra cables are needed. It suits users who need many high-speed ports without opening the case for auxiliary power.

PCIe 2.0 x1 Interface

The card conforms to the PCI Express 2.0 standard and fits any x1, x4, x8 or x16 slot. Each of the seven ports delivers up to 5 Gbps and remains backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices. The controller can power attached peripherals at 5 V, 2 A per port. Note that the bracket dimensions prevent installation in a 2U rackmount chassis.

Thermals and Power

Because the board takes all power from the PCIe slot, total draw stays within the slot's rated limit and no external connector is required. Passive cooling is sufficient; the card runs silently under normal multi-device loads. The low-profile layout keeps airflow unrestricted in standard ATX cases.

Questions sur cet article

What does the 5 Gbps rating mean when I plug several devices into the seven ports at once?

The 5 Gbps is the peak bandwidth of the USB 3.0 link; all seven ports share that single PCIe 2.0 x1 connection, so simultaneous transfers divide the available throughput.

Which PCIe standard does the card use and how does it limit real-world speed?

It conforms to PCI Express 2.0 x1, capping the host link at 5 GT/s so the combined USB traffic cannot exceed that lane bandwidth.

Will the 120 mm by 98 mm board fit in my low-profile chassis?

The card measures 120 mm long by 98 mm high and the supplier notes it cannot be installed in a 2U case; check your case clearance before ordering.
