MacBook SSD upgrade adapter

The SoNNeT ST-NGFF2013 adapter card lets owners of MacBook Air models from 2013 through 2017 and MacBook Pro models from late 2013 through mid 2015 install a standard M.2 nVME SSD. It replaces the proprietary Apple connector with a widely available drive interface.

Proprietary connector limits

The card bridges the 2013-2017 MacBook Air SSD connector to an M.2 slot using a SATA changer type. Internet recovery is not supported so a bootable USB installer must be prepared. Hibernation on 2013-2014 Macs requires a software workaround and an NVRAM reset may be needed after macOS installation.

Supported drive compatibility

The adapter works with listed Adata SX6000, SX7000, SX8200 and SX8200 Pro drives, Corsair MP500 and MP510, Crucial P1, HP ex920 and ex950, Intel 600p, 660p and 760p, Toshiba XG3 through XG6, Samsung 960 and 970 series and WD v1 through v3. It does not support PM981, 950 Pro or WD Blue SN570 and SN770.
