The Supermicro SYS-6018U-TR4T+ fits a standard 1U rack space and ships with two Xeon E5-2697 v4 processors, each running 18 cores at 2.3 GHz. It includes 32 GB of DDR4 ECC memory across four modules and a MegaRAID 9361-8i controller that supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Four 3.5-inch hot-plug bays accept SATA or SAS drives, and quad 10GBase-T ports handle high-throughput networking.

Installation notes and common pitfalls

The chassis uses the CSE-819U platform with the X10DRU-i+ motherboard, so CPU coolers and memory must match the LGA 2011-3 socket and registered DDR4 specification. Rack rails and the front bezel are not included, so plan to supply compatible sliding rails for the target cabinet. The 9361-8i card occupies a PCIe slot; verify cable routing to the backplane before closing the lid. Dual 750 W platinum power supplies are hot-swap redundant, but each unit needs its own PDU circuit for full resilience.

Not for buyers who need more internal drive bays

This configuration provides only four 3.5-inch bays, so workloads that require ten or more spindles will need an external JBOD or a different chassis. The on-board Matrox G200 graphics with 8 MB video memory is strictly for console output and cannot accelerate compute or rendering tasks. Memory capacity is currently 32 GB; the board supports up to 1.5 TB, but additional DIMMs are not included. No solid-state drives are installed.
