Dual 14-core Xeon 2U server

The Supermicro SYS-6028U-TR4T+ is a 2U rackmount server system built around two Intel Xeon E5-2680 v4 processors. Each CPU runs at 2.4 GHz with 14 cores and a 3.3 GHz turbo frequency. The system ships with 256 GB of DDR4 2400 MHz registered ECC memory across eight 32 GB modules. It targets organisations that need dense compute and memory capacity for virtualisation, databases or cloud workloads in a standard rack footprint.

Upgrades from single-socket or lower-core systems

Moving from a single-socket platform or processors with fewer than 14 cores per socket adds 28 total cores and doubles the memory channel count. The jump is worth it when workloads scale across many threads and benefit from the larger 1.5 TB maximum memory ceiling supported by the 24 DIMM slots. The included MegaRAID 9361-8i controller brings hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 with 1 GB cache and battery backup, replacing software RAID or entry-level controllers that lack cache protection.

Fits a 2U rack with 12 hot-swap 3.5-inch bays

Twelve front-access drive trays accept 3.5-inch SATA or SAS drives for high-capacity storage arrays. Quad 10GBase-T ports on the Intel X540 controller provide high-throughput networking without additional cards. Dual 1000 W titanium-efficiency power supplies deliver redundant hot-swap power. IPMI 2.0 with a dedicated LAN port enables KVM-over-LAN and virtual media for remote management. The Matrox G200 GPU supplies basic video output only. Front bezel and rack rails are not included.
