Compact 1U rackmount NAS for small teams

The Synology RS422+ is a 4-bay rackmount network-attached storage device that arrives fully assembled with four 12 TB Synology Plus Series drives for 48 TB of raw capacity. It runs the DiskStation Manager operating system and is powered by an AMD Ryzen processor with 2 GB of installed memory. The 1U chassis fits standard 2-post or wall-mount racks and operates on 100-240 VAC power.

Check rack space and network ports before ordering

Verify that your rack or wall-mount enclosure has at least 44 mm of vertical clearance and 327.5 mm of depth for the unit. Ensure two free Gigabit Ethernet switch ports are available to use the dual RJ-45 interfaces with link aggregation or failover. Confirm the operating environment stays within 0 °C to 35 °C and 5 % to 95 % relative humidity. A single USB 3.2 Gen 1 port is provided for external devices.

Replaces tower NAS or direct-attached storage

This system upgrades offices still using desktop NAS towers or USB-attached drives by adding rackmount density, dual-network redundancy, and DSM services such as snapshots and remote access. The jump is worthwhile when you need centralized backup, file sharing, and synchronization in a 1U footprint with room to expand via plug-and-play modules. It is not suited for workloads requiring more than four drive bays or higher installed memory out of the box.
