The Synology RS1626xs+ is a 1U rackmount network-attached storage server built around an Intel Xeon D-1726 processor with 16GB of DDR4 ECC memory. It ships fully assembled with four 8TB enterprise drives for a total of 32TB raw capacity. The platform targets businesses that require virtualization, file sharing, backup and surveillance in a compact form factor.

Dual 10GbE LAN and PCIe Expansion Limits

Connectivity relies on two onboard 10GbE RJ-45 ports plus a dedicated 1GbE management link, so aggregate throughput tops out at the 10GbE ceiling unless a PCIe Gen4 x8 card adds faster interfaces. The two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and dual M.2 NVMe slots provide cache acceleration but do not increase the external network bandwidth available to clients.

32TB Base Capacity with 16-Drive Scalability

The installed 32TB handles typical departmental datasets, virtual-machine stores and backup repositories comfortably. Adding a compatible Synology expansion unit extends the bay count to 16 drives, raising the raw ceiling well beyond the factory configuration. Memory can also grow to 64GB, giving headroom for heavier concurrent workloads before the CPU or RAM becomes the bottleneck.
