The Synology RS826+ arrives fully assembled with 32GB DDR4 ECC memory, a 1.6TB enterprise cache tier and four 8TB Synology Plus drives pre-installed. A Ryzen V1500B four-core processor handles file services and virtualization workloads for remote offices or edge sites. Four 1GbE ports and a PCIe Gen3 slot provide network expansion headroom.

Replaces standalone file servers

The integrated cache and drive set eliminate the need to source, install and validate separate storage media before production use. Sequential throughput above 2000 MB/s read and 1300 MB/s write under vendor test conditions means the jump from a basic 1GbE appliance is justified when multi-user access or backup windows demand sustained bandwidth. Link aggregation on the four RJ-45 ports adds resilience without extra hardware.

Slide-in installation with validation done

Rack ears and a single AC cord are the only physical steps; the supplier has already populated memory, cache and drives then run a full burn-in. The most common issue is forgetting to configure the PCIe adapter for 10GbE or 25GbE before the unit leaves the staging bench, leaving the extra bandwidth unused. Web-based management and DHCP client support simplify the remaining network integration.
