It ships fully assembled and tested with 32 GB of DDR4 ECC memory and four 8 TB Synology Plus drives installed, delivering 32 TB of raw capacity out of the box. The AMD Ryzen V1500B four-core, eight-thread processor at 2.2 GHz handles file services, virtualization and backup workloads in a space-saving form factor.

Four drive bays with SATA flexibility

The chassis provides four hot-swap bays that accept 3.5-inch SATA hard drives or 2.5-inch SATA SSDs, letting you choose the media that matches capacity or performance priorities. A PCIe Gen3 slot is available for adding compatible 10 GbE or 25 GbE adapters when network throughput needs exceed the four onboard 1 GbE ports. This combination of bay versatility and expansion headroom determines whether the platform fits a given deployment.

Sustained multi-gigabit throughput

Under Synology test conditions the RS826+ delivers more than 2,000 MB/s sequential read and 1,300 MB/s sequential write, and the four 1 GbE ports support Link Aggregation for load balancing and automatic failover during prolonged transfers. The 100-240 VAC power supply and 0 °C to 35 °C operating range keep the unit stable in typical rack environments, while the web-based management console simplifies ongoing administration without requiring dedicated IT staff on site.
