The Synology RS826RP+ is a 1U rackmount network-attached storage system built around an AMD Ryzen V1500B quad-core processor running at 2.2 GHz. It arrives fully assembled with 32GB of DDR4 memory, 1.6TB of enterprise cache on two 800GB SSDs, and four 4TB Synology Plus drives for 16TB of raw capacity. The platform targets edge deployments, branch offices, and remote business workloads that need consolidated file services in a shallow chassis.

Hot-swap bays, four 1GbE ports and a PCIe Gen3 slot

Four front-accessible hot-swappable bays accept 3.5-inch SATA hard drives or 2.5-inch SATA SSDs, allowing drive replacement without downtime. Four RJ-45 ports provide 10/100/1000M connectivity with Link Aggregation for bandwidth pooling and automatic failover. A single PCIe Gen3 expansion slot accepts compatible 10GbE or 25GbE network adapters, an M.2 SSD adapter, or a combined M.2 and 10GbE card. Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports on the rear support external backup targets or peripheral attachments.

Expansion ceiling and 1GbE throughput limit

Adding one Synology RX426 expansion unit extends the system to eight bays and up to 192TB of raw storage using supported 24TB drives. The four onboard 1GbE ports cap network throughput at 1000Mb/s per link, so environments needing sustained multi-gigabit transfers must populate the PCIe slot with a faster adapter. The unit operates between 0°C and 35°C at 5-95% relative humidity and draws 100-240 VAC at 50/60Hz from redundant power supplies.
