The Synology RS826RP+ arrives fully assembled with 32GB DDR4 RAM, 800GB enterprise cache and four 12TB Synology Plus drives. A quad-core AMD Ryzen V1500B processor at 2.2 GHz powers sequential throughput above 2000 MB/s read and 1300 MB/s write. Four 1GbE RJ-45 ports support link aggregation and automatic failover for resilient network connectivity.

1U chassis with hot-swap bays and PCIe expansion

The 44 mm high rackmount enclosure fits standard 19-inch cabinets and operates between 0°C and 35°C. Four hot-swappable bays accept 3.5-inch SATA hard drives or 2.5-inch SATA SSDs. Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports provide front or rear peripheral access. A PCIe Gen3 slot allows optional 10GbE or 25GbE adapters, an M.2 SSD adapter or a combined M.2 and 10GbE card for future bandwidth upgrades.

Scales to eight bays with RX426 expansion

Adding a Synology RX426 unit doubles bay count to eight and raises raw capacity potential to 192 TB using supported 24 TB drives. The jump is worthwhile for organisations that need more than four drives of redundancy or capacity without migrating to a larger chassis. Buyers who require more than eight bays or native 10GbE ports out of the box should evaluate larger rackmount models.
