The Synology RS826RP+ is a 1U rackmount network-attached storage system built around a quad-core AMD Ryzen V1500B processor running at 2.2 GHz with 8GB of DDR4 memory. It ships fully assembled and tested with four 20TB Synology Plus drives for 80TB of raw capacity and two 1.6TB enterprise SSDs providing 3.2TB of cache. Four integrated 1GbE RJ-45 ports support Link Aggregation for bandwidth scaling and failover, targeting remote business workloads and edge deployments.

Verify rack space and drive compatibility before

The unit measures 44 mm high, 480 mm wide and 492.6 mm deep and weighs 8.0 kg, so confirm your rack can accommodate a 1U form factor with adequate airflow within the 0°C to 35°C operating range. The four hot-swappable bays accept 3.5-inch SATA hard drives and 2.5-inch SATA SSDs only; other drive interfaces are not supported. A single Synology RX426 expansion unit can be attached later to double the bay count to eight and raise raw capacity to 192TB using supported 24TB drives.

Bundled cache SSDs and expansion slot shape

The pre-installed 3.2TB (2 x 1.6TB) Synology Enterprise Cache SSDs accelerate read and write IOPS for HDD-based arrays, reducing latency for frequently accessed data. A PCIe Gen3 slot allows adding a 10GbE or 25GbE network adapter, an M.2 SSD adapter, or a combined M.2 and 10GbE card, but compatible adapters are sold separately. Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports provide external connectivity for backup targets or peripheral devices.
