The Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC580 WUH722424AL4201 delivers 24TB of storage in a 3.5in SAS 12Gb/s form factor. Designed for enterprise servers, storage arrays and hyperscale deployments, it uses CMR recording technology and a 7200 RPM spindle speed to handle backup, archiving and big-data analytics workloads. A 512MB cache and helium-sealed design support sustained high-throughput operation in multi-drive environments.

Replaces lower-capacity enterprise SAS drives

Moving from smaller-capacity 12Gb/s SAS drives to this 24TB model reduces the number of spindles required for a given raw capacity, cutting power and rack space in dense arrays. The jump is worth it when workloads demand sustained sequential throughput near 298 MB/s and the infrastructure can support dual-port SAS connectivity with hot-swap capability. Systems limited to desktop PC interfaces cannot use this drive.
