Socket and processor support

This board uses the LGA 1151 socket with the Intel 300 series chipset. It accepts 8th and 9th generation Intel Core processors only and is not backward compatible with earlier LGA 1151 CPUs. The H310 chipset provides Turbo Boost 2.0 support for those chips.

Memory and expansion layout

Two 288-pin DDR4 slots run at 2133, 2400 or 2666 MHz in dual channel up to 32 GB. A single PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot and two PCI Express 2.0 x1 slots handle add-in cards. Four SATA3 6.0 Gb/s ports and one M.2 socket taking 2230, 2242, 2260 or 2280 modules provide storage connections.

Sustained operation characteristics

The Realtek ALC887 codec drives 7.1 channel audio when a compatible front panel module is used. Networking runs through an Intel I219-V controller at 1 Gbps. Surge protection is built into the board. If a SATA-type M.2 device occupies the M.2 slot, the third SATA3 connector is disabled.
