Server ECC Registered Memory Kit

This 8 GB kit contains two 4 GB DDR3 registered DIMMs rated at 1333 MHz with CL9 timing. It is built for the HP/Compaq ProLiant ML350 G6 and carries ECC plus register buffering for data integrity in server workloads. The modules run at 1.5 V and use a 2Rx4 organisation.

Upgrade From Unbuffered Or Lower Capacity

The ML350 G6 accepts either registered or unbuffered ECC DIMMs but does not support mixing the two types. Installing this registered kit replaces any existing unbuffered modules and adds capacity up to the platform limits of 144 GB with 8 GB dual-rank RDIMMs or 192 GB with 16 GB quad-rank RDIMMs. The jump is worthwhile when the workload needs the higher densities that registered memory enables.

DDR3 Platform Limits And Clock Scaling

On this platform the memory controller automatically reduces speed to 1066 MHz or 800 MHz depending on the Xeon model and how many banks are populated. Quad-rank modules in the second triple-channel bank drop to 800 MHz and the third bank must remain empty. Unbuffered ECC is restricted to two triple-channel banks per processor on Xeon 55xx series systems.
