Dell 480GB SATA hot-swap SSD
This 480GB solid-state drive fits 2.5-inch hot-swap bays and connects through a SATA 6Gb/s interface. It is built for Dell servers and workstations that use the 400-APBY part number. The drive ships as a bare unit without a retail box.
SATA 6Gb/s throughput ceiling
The SATA 6Gb/s link caps maximum sequential transfer at the interface rate, so sustained reads and writes cannot exceed that bandwidth. Random I/O performance is limited by the controller and NAND, not by the cable or backplane. Systems without a 6Gb/s SATA port will fall back to 3Gb/s speeds.
Tool-less bay insertion
The hot-swap tray slides into a compatible Dell bay and locks with a lever, requiring no screws or cables. Installation fails when the backplane does not support 2.5-inch SATA hot-swap drives or when the carrier latch is misaligned. Firmware mismatches on older controllers can also prevent the drive from being recognised.

Domande su questo articolo
Is the 480GB capacity the only option for the 400-APBY model?
Yes, the 400-APBY is offered in a single 480GB capacity; there are no other sizes under this part number.
What does the 6Gb/s transfer rate mean for real-world speeds?
The 6Gb/s link sets the maximum interface bandwidth; actual read and write speeds will be lower and depend on the drive controller and workload.
Does the SATA 6Gb/s interface limit the drive in any Dell server or workstation?
The drive uses the standard SATA 6Gb/s interface, so it works in any 2.5-inch hot-swap bay wired for SATA without protocol bottlenecks.
