SATA 6Gb/s throughput ceiling

The SATA 6Gb/s link caps maximum sequential transfer at the interface rate, so sustained reads and writes cannot exceed that bandwidth. Random I/O performance is limited by the controller and NAND, not by the cable or backplane. Systems without a 6Gb/s SATA port will fall back to 3Gb/s speeds.
