Blade Server for Virtualisation and HPC

The Dell EMC PowerEdge M640 is a half-height blade server built for modern data centres. It runs dual Intel Xeon Gold 6230 processors, each offering 20 cores at 2.1 GHz with a 3.9 GHz turbo frequency. The system ships with 128 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across eight modules. It targets virtualisation, private cloud and high-performance computing workloads.

PERC H330 Controller and 10Gb Networking

Storage is handled by a Dell PERC H330 mini mono controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50 across two 2.5-inch drive bays. Two 960 GB SATA 6 Gb/s enterprise SSDs are installed. Networking uses a Broadcom 57810S-K dual-port 10 Gb blade daughter card. The blade fits PowerEdge MX and M1000e chassis; front bezel and ready rails are not included.

Memory and Processor Ceilings

The platform supports a maximum of 1.5 TB of DDR4 memory across 16 slots and up to 56 cores per server when fully populated. Current configuration uses both processor sockets, so no further CPU upgrades are possible. iDRAC 9 Enterprise provides remote management. No operating system is pre-installed.
