Dual-socket Xeon rack server

The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server built around two Intel Xeon E5-2630v3 processors, each running at 2.4GHz with eight cores. It ships with 32GB of DDR4 memory across 24 DIMM slots and includes a PERC H330 RAID controller. The chassis supports up to eight 2.5-inch hot-plug drive bays and comes with redundant 750W power supplies.

PERC H330 RAID controller

The installed PERC H330 controller manages storage through a 12Gbps interface and supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60. Two 1TB 7.2K RPM SATA drives are included in the front bays. Maximum raw capacity reaches 64TB across all eight bays. The controller occupies a dedicated slot, leaving up to seven PCIe 3.0 slots available for expansion cards.

Redundant power and thermal design

Dual 750W hot-swap power supplies provide N+1 redundancy for continuous operation. The 2U form factor uses internal airflow channels to cool both CPUs, memory and drive bays under typical loads. A DVD-ROM drive is fitted as standard. Remote management is handled by iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller for out-of-band monitoring and firmware updates.
