Sustained load behaviour

The H730P RAID controller manages four 960 GB SAS SSDs for consistent throughput under continuous workloads. Dual 10 Gb RJ45 and dual 1 Gb RJ45 ports from the Intel X550 NDC maintain network bandwidth during prolonged transfers. Redundant 1100 W power supplies keep the system running if one unit fails. iDRAC9 Enterprise enables remote monitoring and firmware updates without physical access.

Practical limits of SAS and PCIe Gen 3

SAS SSDs top out at the controller and drive firmware limits, so capacity expansion stops at eight 2.5-inch bays. PCIe Gen 3 slots cap add-in card bandwidth at the generation ceiling, restricting newer accelerators that require Gen 4 or higher. The single-socket configuration leaves the second CPU socket empty, limiting total core count and memory channels to half the platform maximum. No optical drive is fitted.
