The Syba SY-TDB40179 is a USB4 40Gbps docking station that accepts up to four M.2 NVMe SSDs in 2230, 2242, 2260, 2280 or 22110 form factors. It is built for professionals who need portable, high-capacity storage without installing drives inside a chassis. The aluminium alloy housing acts as a passive heatsink for sustained operation. It is not suited for users who require SATA M.2 support or a single-bay form factor.
USB4 and Thunderbolt connectivity
Each bay connects through a USB4 Gen 4x4 interface that also works with Thunderbolt 3, 4 and 5 host ports. A 12V 3A power adapter supplies the dock, freeing the host from providing bus power for four drives. The direct-insert design leaves the PCB exposed to airflow, so no active cooling is required. Builders who need internal RAID cards or 2.5-inch SATA bays will not use this device.
Offline cloning and thermal limits
A hardware button starts a one-to-three offline clone without a host computer attached. The enclosure is rated for an operating range of 0°C to 108°C and storage from -40°C to 110°C. Combined capacity across all four slots can reach 32TB. Users who expect hardware RAID 0, 1 or 5 managed by the dock itself will not find that feature here.
