The Dell PowerEdge M640 arrives as a complete blade with two Xeon Gold 6138 processors at 2.0 GHz, 384 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory and a PERC H330 SAS RAID controller. Two 1.8 TB SAS hard drives are installed in the 2.5-inch bays and firmware is updated to the latest stable release. iDRAC9 Enterprise provides out-of-band remote management.

The dual-socket design delivers 40 cores and 27.5 MB cache per processor for virtualization or database workloads. Buyers who require more than two internal drives, 10 GbE connectivity beyond the installed 562T adapter, or GPU acceleration will need a different platform.
