The Dell PowerEdge R430 is a 1U rack server designed for space-constrained data centres and branch offices. It ships with dual Intel Xeon E5-2603 v3 six-core processors at 1.6 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 memory. Three 1 TB 7.2K SATA drives and a PERC H730 RAID controller provide redundant storage out of the box.

Sustained-load behaviour

Under continuous workloads the two six-core CPUs deliver predictable throughput for virtualisation, file serving and light database tasks. The H730 controller with 1 GB cache maintains consistent RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 or 60 performance across the three installed drives. Twelve DIMM slots allow memory expansion to 384 GB when applications demand more capacity.

Thermals noise and power

A single 550 W redundant power supply handles the configured load while leaving headroom for additional drives or PCIe 3.0 cards. The 1U chassis uses front-to-rear airflow to keep CPU and drive temperatures stable in standard racks. Four 1 GbE ports and iDRAC8 remote management operate independently of the main system power state.
