The Dell PowerEdge R430 fits a single Intel Xeon E5-2603 v3 six-core processor at 1.6 GHz with 8 GB of DDR4 memory in a 1U chassis. It targets environments that need a compact rack footprint and hardware RAID without a large upfront drive investment.

Hot-plug bays and redundant power

Eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays accept SAS or SATA drives and connect to the H730 controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. A single 550 W redundant supply is installed; the second bay is free for a matching unit. Two PCIe 3.0 slots remain open for additional I/O cards.

Remote management and missing peripherals

iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller provides out-of-band monitoring and deployment; Express licensing is included and Enterprise can be added later. No operating system, rail kit, bezel, drive trays, keyboard, mouse or video cable are supplied, so those items must be sourced separately.
