The Dell PowerEdge R630 fits a single Intel Xeon E5-2637 v3 quad-core processor at 3.5 GHz into a 1U chassis with redundant 750 W hot-swap power supplies. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory across 24 DIMM slots and two 1 TB 7.2K 2.5-inch enterprise SATA drives managed by a PERC H330 RAID controller supporting levels 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60. The system includes an iDRAC8 remote-management module and a quad-port 1 GbE daughter card.

Suits single-socket workloads needing maximum

This configuration targets environments that need up to eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays in a single rack unit with hardware RAID and redundant power. Buyers who require dual-processor performance, more than 16 GB of memory out of the box, or 10 GbE networking should look at other configurations. The installed CPU provides eight threads, which limits heavily threaded applications.

Single E5-2637 v3 processor installed

Only one processor is populated, so 12 of the 24 DIMM slots are usable and the second CPU socket remains empty. Adding a second compatible Xeon would unlock the remaining slots and double the thread count. The H330 controller manages the two included 1 TB drives and any additional SAS or SATA drives up to the 14 TB per-drive maximum.
