Ready-to-run 2U rack server

This Dell PowerEdge R740 arrives fully assembled with a single Intel Gold 6132 processor running at 2.6GHz across 14 cores and 128GB of DDR4 memory installed as eight 16GB modules at 2666 MT/s. Two 7.68TB SAS SSDs sit behind the H730P RAID controller, and dual 1100W redundant power supplies are already fitted. The iDRAC9 Enterprise module provides remote management out of the box.

Check rack depth and power feed

The chassis occupies 2U of rack space and uses eight 2.5-inch drive bays, so confirm your cabinet depth and rail clearance before ordering. Network connectivity relies on an Intel X550 NDC delivering two 10Gb RJ45 and two 1Gb RJ45 ports — verify your switch ports and cabling match those interfaces. Only one CPU socket is populated; the second socket is vacant if future expansion is planned. PCIe Gen 3 slots are available for additional cards.

Included rails, bezel and power cords

Sliding rails and a front bezel without an LCD panel are bundled, eliminating separate rail-kit purchases. Standard power cords are also supplied for immediate connection to compatible PDUs. No optical drive is present, so OS installation must use USB, network boot or the iDRAC virtual media feature. The H730P controller manages the installed SSDs and any drives you add later.
