Server platform

The Dell PowerEdge R750 is a 2U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon Gold 6330 processors running at 2.0 GHz with 28 cores each. It ships with 512 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across 16 modules. The chassis holds 24 SATA solid-state drives of 1.92 TB each behind a PERC H755 RAID controller. Dual 1400 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management are included.

Fit and limits

This system suits teams that need dense all-flash storage and high core counts in a 2U form factor for virtualization, databases or analytics. Buyers who require NVMe drive support, larger 3.5-inch bays, or more than two processor sockets should look at other platforms. The installed memory uses all 16 of 32 available DDR4 slots, leaving room for expansion but no smaller DIMM options.

Deciding specification

The 24-bay 2.5-inch front layout with a single H755 controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 determines whether the storage density and redundancy model matches the workload. If the application needs a different drive count, interface mix or controller feature set, this chassis will not fit.
