Dual 14-core Xeon 5U server

The Dell PowerEdge T430 is a 5U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon E5-2690 v4 processors running at 2.6GHz with a 3.5GHz turbo. Fourteen cores per CPU deliver 28 threads for virtualization, database hosting and business-critical applications. One hundred and twenty-eight gigabytes of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory populate eight of twelve slots, leaving room to reach the 384GB maximum. The PERC H730P controller with 2GB cache manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays.

Thermals power and acoustics

Dual 750W platinum-efficiency hot-swap power supplies provide redundancy and share the load during typical workloads. The 5U chassis uses front-to-rear airflow across the drive cage and CPU heatsinks to keep component temperatures within spec. Fan speed ramps with inlet temperature and CPU utilisation, so idle noise stays lower than under sustained compute tasks. Redundant supplies allow one unit to be replaced without powering down the server.

Storage controller and remote management

The H730P 2GB controller enables hardware RAID with battery-backed write cache, improving write latency and protecting data during power loss. Four factory-installed 960GB SATA SSDs offer a ready-to-use array for operating systems or hot data. Integrated iDRAC 8 Express provides out-of-band remote console, power control and hardware inventory over a dedicated management port. Dual onboard 1GbE ports handle production traffic while iDRAC runs on its own interface.
