The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server built for virtualization, database hosting and file storage workloads. Two Intel Xeon Gold 5118 processors deliver 24 total cores at a 2.3 GHz base clock with 3.2 GHz turbo capability. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory are installed across two slots, leaving fourteen slots open for expansion up to the one terabyte maximum. The system suits IT teams that need dense internal storage and redundant power in a tower form factor.

Storage Controller and Drive Bays

A Dell PERC HBA330 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA controller manages the sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays. Four 1.92 TB SATA solid-state drives are installed, providing high-capacity flash storage for mixed read-write workloads. The controller operates in HBA mode, presenting drives directly to the operating system for software-defined storage or hypervisor configurations. Redundant hot-plug 750 watt platinum power supplies maintain uptime during module replacement. The front bezel and ready rails are not included with this unit.

Thermals and Remote Management

The 5U chassis accommodates generous airflow paths for the dual-socket configuration and dense drive population. Integrated iDRAC 9 Express provides out-of-band remote management with lifecycle controller firmware updates, reducing the need for physical console access. Dual-port gigabit Ethernet handles management and workload traffic on separate interfaces if required. PCI Express slots remain available for additional networking, GPU or storage controllers as workloads evolve.
