Dense 1U rack server

The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 packs dual eight-core Xeon E5-2640v3 processors running at 2.6 GHz into a single rack unit. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4 ECC memory and two 300 GB 15K SAS drives are installed from the factory. The platform targets workloads that demand high core density and fast local storage in constrained rack space.

Build integration and expansion

Four 3.5-inch LFF bays provide room for additional SAS or SATA drives behind the H240ar controller, which supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Twenty-four DDR4 DIMM slots — twelve per processor — allow memory growth up to the platform maximum. Dual hot-swap 500 W power supplies deliver redundancy without extra cabling. The Matrox G200 handles basic video output for management consoles.

Sustained-load behaviour

The 15K SAS spindles maintain consistent throughput for random I/O under continuous database or virtualization loads. Redundant power supplies share the load evenly, so a single unit failure does not throttle the CPUs or storage controller. DDR4 ECC registered modules correct single-bit errors in flight, preserving data integrity during long compute runs. Thermal design keeps both processors at rated frequency inside the 1U chassis.
