12 Gbit SAS interface ceiling
The drive uses a 12 Gbit SAS link, which sets the maximum theoretical throughput for the interface. Real-world transfer rates will be lower and depend on the controller, backplane and cable quality in the server. The 10 000 rpm spindle speed limits sustained sequential performance compared with 15K models. Workloads that exceed the interface or mechanical limits will see queuing and latency increases.
Hot-plug Smart Carrier install
The Smart Carrier slides into a compatible SFF hot-plug bay without tools and locks with a single lever. The carrier icons show power, activity and fault states so technicians can identify the correct drive before removal. The do-not-remove button prevents accidental ejection during rebuilds. Installation fails if the backplane does not support 12 Gbit SAS or if the carrier keying does not match the chassis slot.
