Sustained 10K RPM throughput

At 10000RPM the spindle maintains consistent rotational velocity under continuous I/O, avoiding the throughput drops seen in lower-speed drives during extended write sequences. Dual-port SAS provides redundant data paths so a single controller or cable failure does not halt array access. The 512e format aligns logical blocks with physical sectors to reduce write amplification during sustained random workloads.

12Gbps SAS lane limits

The 12Gbps SAS link caps per-drive bandwidth at the interface signalling rate, so aggregate array performance scales with the number of active drives and controller ports rather than exceeding the single-lane ceiling. 512e emulation adds a thin translation layer that can marginally increase latency versus native 4Kn media when the array issues many small writes.
