Ready-to-work business laptop

The Thinkpad T14 Gen 2 ships as a new unit with Windows 10 Pro and Linux Mint 20 configured in a dual-boot layout. An 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor runs at 2.40 GHz with a 4.2 GHz boost across four cores. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a 4 TB PCIe SSD provide capacity for large project files and virtual machines. A 14.0 inch 1920 x 1080 IPS panel and Intel Iris Xe graphics handle office applications and video calls with the integrated 720p webcam.

Ports and first boot

Two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, HDMI, a micro SD reader, RJ-45 Ethernet and a combo audio jack are all accessible without tools. The 65 W power adapter connects via USB-C. At first power-up the firmware presents a menu to choose either operating system; switching later requires a reboot because both environments cannot run simultaneously. Secure Boot and BitLocker settings may need adjustment before the Linux Mint partition boots cleanly.

Interface practical limits

Thunderbolt 4 carries DisplayPort and PCIe traffic over the same USB-C connector, so a single cable can drive an external monitor and a high-speed dock. The 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet port caps wired throughput at one gigabit per second. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 share the 2.4 GHz band, so dense wireless environments can reduce sustained throughput. The 50 Wh battery and 65 W charger limit unplugged runtime under heavy multi-core loads.
