Compatible Raspberry Pi Models

This PoE HAT fits the Raspberry Pi 3B+ and 4B boards. It is designed to sit inside the official Raspberry Pi case without modification. Makers and embedded developers can add wired power and data through a single Ethernet cable.

Power Delivery and Headroom

The on-board isolated SMPS converts PoE input to the 5 V rail required by the Pi. It handles the standard 802.3af power budget, which is sufficient for typical headless or lightly loaded applications. Heavy peripheral draw or sustained CPU loads may exceed the available headroom.

IEEE 802.3af Practical Limits

The HAT follows the IEEE 802.3af specification, so it negotiates up to the standard power class with compatible switches or injectors. Long cable runs, non-compliant injectors or switches with limited PoE budgets can reduce the power actually delivered to the board.
