Portable NVMe Enclosure

The Orico M.2 NVMe SSD enclosure adapts a single M.2 PCIe NVMe drive with M-key or B+M-key connectors into an external drive. It accepts drive lengths of 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 millimetres. The unit is intended for users who want to reuse an internal NVMe module as portable storage without a SATA drive. It does not support M.2 SATA SSDs, PCIe AHCI SSDs or other PCIe devices.

Aluminium Build With Dual Cable

An all-aluminium alloy shell uses CNC-cut stripes and a wrap-around cooling vest to conduct heat away from the SSD. The external connection is a USB Type-C port operating at USB 3.2 Gen2x2 20Gbps. A single 2-in-1 cable provides both a USB-C to USB-A plug rated at 10Gbps and a USB-C to USB-C plug rated at 20Gbps for flexible host compatibility.

Upgrade From Slower Enclosures

The 20Gbps interface raises the theoretical throughput ceiling to 2000MB/s compared with 10Gbps enclosures limited to 1000MB/s. The jump is worthwhile when the host system has a USB 3.2 Gen2x2 port and the NVMe drive can saturate the link. Builders who need to connect SATA M.2 drives or who only have 10Gbps or 5Gbps ports will not gain the extra bandwidth.
