Four-port Gigabit server upgrade
The StarTech ST4000SPEXI adds four RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet ports to a client, server or workstation through a single PCI Express x4 slot. It uses an Intel I350-AM4 chipset and supports 10, 100 and 1000 Mbps speeds with IEEE 802.3x flow control and 802.1Q VLAN tagging. A low-profile bracket is included for compact chassis.
Sustained multi-port throughput
Each port negotiates independently at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps full duplex, so simultaneous traffic on all four links can approach the 2000 MB/s PCIe x4 bandwidth ceiling. The Intel controller offloads checksum and segmentation tasks, keeping CPU utilisation low during continuous file transfers or virtual-machine bridging. LEDs show link status and 100/1000 Mbps speed per port.
PCIe x4 slot requirement
The card requires an open PCI Express x4 slot (or larger) to deliver its rated 2000 MB/s host bandwidth. Systems limited to x1 or x2 electrical connections will restrict total aggregate throughput across the four ports. Verify slot availability and form-factor clearance before purchase.
