36-Bay 4U Storage Server
The Supermicro SYS-6048R-E1CR36N is a 4U rackmount system built for high-density storage workloads. It ships with dual Xeon E5-2690 v4 14-core processors at 2.6 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 ECC memory. Thirty-six hot-swap 3.5-inch trays accept SATA or SAS drives for massive capacity scaling.
Upgrade From Smaller Arrays
This platform replaces 2U or tower servers that max out at 12 or 24 bays when a single chassis must hold 36 drives. The jump is worth it when archiving, backup or media workloads demand raw bay count over CPU density. The LSI MegaRAID 9361-8i controller handles RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across eight internal ports.
Sustained Load Behaviour
Dual 1280 W Platinum power supplies and redundant hot-swap design keep the system online during drive rebuilds or controller battery maintenance. Four 10GBase-T ports from the Intel X540 controller sustain high-throughput transfers without saturating a single link. IPMI 2.0 with dedicated LAN provides remote KVM and virtual media access for lights-out management.
