This 4U rackmount system ships with four Intel Xeon E7-4890 v2 processors running at 2.8 GHz, each with 15 cores. A total of 1.5 TB DDR3 1600 MHz registered ECC memory is installed across 96 DIMM slots. The platform targets enterprise workloads that need high core counts and large memory capacity.
MegaRAID 9361-8i and 24 drive trays
An LSI MegaRAID 9361-8i controller provides eight SAS 12 Gb/s ports with 1 GB cache and battery backup, supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Twenty-four hot-swap 3.5-inch SATA/SAS trays are included, but no hard drives are installed. Dual 10GBase-T ports from the Intel X540 controller and a dedicated IPMI 2.0 LAN port handle networking and remote management.
Four 1620 W platinum PSUs and missing rails
Redundant hot-swap 1620 watt platinum power supplies are fitted, simplifying power redundancy in the rack. The front bezel and rack-mount rails are not included, so you must source compatible rails separately. Installation follows standard 4U server procedures; the main oversight is forgetting to order rails or drives before the hardware arrives.
