Five-bay RAID enclosure for desktop storage

The Syba SY-ENC50118 holds up to five 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA drives and connects via USB 3.0 or eSATA. It supports RAID 0, 1, 3, 5, 10, SPAN and JBOD modes for capacity, redundancy or performance. Tray-less bays let you insert or remove drives without tools. The aluminium chassis and quiet fans keep operating temperatures low.

Bundled cables and hardware enable immediate setup

A USB 3.0 cable, an eSATA cable and a power cord are included so either host interface works out of the box. Thirty-two mounting screws for 2.5-inch drives and a screwdriver are also supplied, removing the need to source small fasteners separately. The package contains everything required to populate all five bays and connect to a host system.

eSATA port multiplier requirement limits

The eSATA connection only exposes multiple drives simultaneously when the host controller supports port multiplier with FIS-based switching. Without that capability, only a single drive is visible over eSATA. USB 3.0 does not have this restriction but tops out at the interface’s maximum throughput. Each drive bay accepts up to 6 TB for a total raw capacity of 30 TB.
