The Synology RS3626xs is a 2U rackmount network-attached storage server built for demanding business environments. It ships fully assembled with 12 drive bays populated by 48TB of Synology Enterprise NAS drives, 1.6TB of cache, and 16GB of DDR4 ECC memory. This configuration targets organisations that need immediate, high-capacity centralised storage for virtualisation, surveillance, and multi-site collaboration.

Upgrade from Smaller Arrays or Slower Interconnects

The system replaces 4-bay or 8-bay units that have exhausted their drive slots or lack 10GbE connectivity. The jump is worth it when workloads saturate 1GbE links or when a single power supply represents an unacceptable failure point. Two integrated 10GbE RJ-45 ports with Link Aggregation remove the network bottleneck, while redundant power supplies protect availability from a single power-supply failure.

48TB Raw Capacity with 1.6TB Cache Headroom

Twelve 4TB enterprise drives deliver 48TB of raw storage, complemented by two 800GB cache drives that accelerate frequent read and write operations. The Xeon D-1726 processor and 16GB memory comfortably handle concurrent virtual machines and heavy file-sharing traffic. Sequential throughput reaches 6,300 MB/s read and 3,700 MB/s write under test conditions. Expansion is limited to two PCIe Gen 4 x8 slots for additional networking or caching cards; the 12-bay chassis cannot accept more internal drives.
