Built for compact devices
The Western Digital PC SN740 is a 1TB M.2 2230 NVMe SSD designed for thin-and-light laptops and handheld PCs such as the Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Flow X, Surface Pro 9 and GPD Win Max 2. Its 22 by 30 millimetre form factor fits the tight slots found in those systems. Sequential reads reach 5150MB/s and writes reach 4850MB/s over a PCIe 4.0 x4 link.
Drops into a PCIe 4.0 slot
The drive connects through an M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 interface and is backward compatible with PCIe 3.0 x4, though full speed requires a 4.0 host. It draws 45 percent less power than the earlier 730 model, leaving more headroom for battery life in portable devices. No extra cables or brackets are needed; the drive installs directly into the existing M.2 slot.
Single-drive package
The box contains only the 1TB SN740 2230 module itself. No heatsink, adapter or cloning software is bundled, so the buyer must rely on the host device’s built-in thermal solution and provide their own migration method if required.
