SATA 6.0Gb/s throughput ceiling

The drive connects through a SATA 6.0Gb/s interface, which limits maximum sequential transfer rates to the bus ceiling of 600MB/s regardless of the mechanical platters’ speed. The 512e disk format ensures broad compatibility with current operating systems and storage controllers. Workloads that demand sustained throughput beyond the SATA link will require a different interface technology.

Standard 3.5-inch installation

The drive fits standard 3.5-inch bays with maximum dimensions of 147.00mm length, 101.60mm width and 26.10mm height, using the usual SATA data and power connectors. No special drivers are needed for the SATA interface. The main installation issues arise when the chassis lacks adequate airflow for a 7200 RPM drive or when the power supply cannot deliver sufficient 12V current for multiple drives spinning up simultaneously.
