Compact storage for vibration-prone logging

This Adafruit SPI Flash SD Card provides 512 MB of storage in a surface-mount package that mimics a standard SPI flash chip. It is designed for engineers and hobbyists building data loggers or embedded devices where a removable card could dislodge. The module arrives pre-formatted with a FAT filesystem and works with existing SD libraries for Arduino and CircuitPython.

Silent operation with managed endurance

The device has no moving parts and draws power only during active SPI transactions, adding negligible thermal load to a compact enclosure. An on-board hardware ECC engine and NAND management layer handle wear levelling and error correction automatically, delivering Class 8 write performance without software overhead. This internal management replaces the manual handling required by raw SPI flash.

Solder-down footprint frees board space

The chip-scale form factor solders directly to a PCB, eliminating the bulk and connector cost of a traditional SD socket. It uses a standard SPI interface, so it integrates with common microcontrollers without specialised drivers. The design suits space-constrained projects that need reliable, non-removable storage but cannot accommodate a card slot or withstand vibration-induced disconnection.
