2.5Gbps PCIe Network Card

The C&N SAE-TXA092 adds a single 2.5Gbps Ethernet port to a desktop or server through a PCI Express 2.1 x1 slot. It is built around the RTL8125B controller and supports 2500, 1000 and 100Mbps link speeds over standard cabling. The card fits full-height and low-profile brackets, making it suitable for compact chassis and rackmount units. It targets users who need faster wired throughput than a typical 1Gbps onboard port provides.

Upgrade from 1Gbps onboard

Replacing a built-in gigabit interface with this adapter raises the ceiling to 2.5Gbps when the switch or router also supports multi-gig operation. The jump is worthwhile when moving large files between local machines, running a NAS over CAT5e, or serving virtual machines that saturate a 1Gbps link. It does not help if the rest of the network remains at 1Gbps or if the workload never exceeds gigabit rates.

Sustained throughput behaviour

Under continuous load the card maintains its negotiated speed without thermal throttling, thanks to a low-power design that draws minimal current from the slot. Driver support across Windows, Linux, macOS and major hypervisors keeps the path stable during long transfers or PXE boot sequences. Wake-on-LAN and VLAN tagging remain active during extended uptime, so remote management functions do not degrade.
