The Dell PowerEdge R530 is a 2U rack server built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2603 v3 six-core processor running at 1.6 GHz. It ships with 48 GB of DDR4 memory installed across twelve DIMM slots and includes two 300 GB 15K SAS drives managed by a PERC H330 RAID controller. This configuration suits small-business virtualisation hosts, file servers or backup targets that need hot-plug drive bays and redundant power in a compact rack footprint.

Dual 750 W redundant supplies and hot-plug cooling

Two 750 W hot-swap power supplies provide full redundancy so a single unit failure does not interrupt operation. The 2U chassis uses front-to-back airflow across the eight 3.5-inch drive bays and the processor heatsink, keeping thermals stable under typical workloads. Fan speeds scale with inlet temperature, so acoustic output remains moderate in a standard server room but will be noticeable in quiet office environments.

Eight-bay SAS/SATA chassis

The enclosure supports up to eight hot-plug SAS or SATA drives, allowing capacity to grow to 80 TB without removing the server from the rack. Expansion options include three PCIe 3.0 and two PCIe 2.0 slots for additional controllers or networking cards. Integrated iDRAC8 Express provides out-of-band hardware monitoring, virtual console and power control over a dedicated 1 GbE port, while the Matrox G200eR2 graphics chip handles local video output. A DVD-ROM drive is included for legacy media. Rail kit, bezel and peripherals are not supplied.
